FAQ

What are the advantages of starting early? Simply put: applicants who start early have the greatest chance of being admitted. Our counselors can provide strategic and proactive counseling on topics that will allow you to better position yourself for success. Plus, by starting early, you will ensure all admissions requirements have been met and avoid any stress associated with missing deadlines.

What’s the difference between regular and veteran counselors? All AcceptU counselors are former admissions officers from selective U.S. colleges and universities that have been trained and certified by AcceptU. Veteran counselors have more years of experience — and significantly limit the number of clients they work with.

How many counseling hours will I need? It depends on several factors, including how far along you are in the admissions process and the schools you plan on applying to. With that said, a good rule of thumb is as follows: Freshmen and Sophomores (3 hours), Juniors (6 hours), Seniors (6-15 hours). These estimates are inclusive of 1-on-1 counseling, email support as well as essay editing.

What if I run out of hours? If you exhaust your counseling hours, you can purchase individual hours as needed, or purchase another prepaid package. AcceptU will help you determine the best package and give guidance if you need to purchase additional counseling.

Do you offer email support? Yes. Questions can be sent to AcceptU by email — our office will respond to general queries while specific questions will be forwarded to your AcceptU counselor. Time spent by your counselor answering emails will be counted toward your total counseling hours.

What counseling topics are covered? Typical topics include the school list, essays, admissions strategy and interview preparation. (Download a brochure for students in Grades 9-10, Grade 11 or Grade 12.)

How is essay editing counted toward my counseling plan? Time spent by your counselor editing essays will be counted against your total counseling hours. A good rule of thumb is to estimate 30-60 minutes per essay (this includes the initial review as well as subsequent, iterative reviews).

Is it possible to work on just an hourly basis? Admissions counseling is successful only if applicants invest in the relationship. As such, our minimum counseling package is 3 hours. After you have exhausted hours from your initial counseling package, you can purchase another prepaid package or work on an hourly basis.

Can you help me pick out the right plan based on my needs? Of course! Simply call AcceptU’s toll-free number (855-437-8252) or contact us by email.
