What makes AcceptU different?
More Info

Just ask our thousands of past clients. AcceptU is the #1 rated admissions consulting firm, with more 5-star verified reviews than any other provider. We pioneered virtual admissions counseling more than a decade ago and our team is composed entirely of former college admissions officers with experience at the most selective universities in the U.S.

What are the advantages of starting early?
More Info

Applicants who start early have the greatest chance of being admitted, as our counselors can provide strategic guidance that enables them to make informed decisions about the ways that they can best prepare themselves for the process. Doing so ensures that our clients are able to stand out and put their best foot forward in their applications.

How do you measure success?
More Info

We measure success in two ways. We ask all of our clients to rank their school lists and then track the outcome. We have found that, consistently, about 90% of our clients are admitted to at least one of their top three choices – and, on average, our clients are four times more likely to be admitted to highly selective schools with our support versus applying on their own.

Do you offer standardized test preparation?
More Info

AcceptU specializes exclusively in admissions counseling and does not offer standardized test preparation and/or academic tutoring. We do, however, engage with trusted tutoring partners and are always happy to make introductions for our clients, when appropriate. Like AcceptU, our tutoring partners provide standardized testing and academic support virtually.

What are the qualifications of your counselors?
More Info

All AcceptU counselors have extensive prior admissions experience – reading, evaluating and making decisions on applicants at top 40 colleges, universities and graduate programs. Nearly all counselors have been referred to AcceptU by current counselors and we methodically evaluate, interview and vet all candidates. We hire fewer than 1% of applicants.

How are your counselors trained?
More Info

Counselors undergo extensive one-on-one training in addition to attending regular professional development workshops. Additionally, most counselors hold membership(s) in national admissions counseling organizations and frequently visit college and university campuses to remain closely connected to the latest trends and best practices in admissions.

How will I be matched with a counselor?
More Info

The virtual nature of AcceptU’s support enables us to connect you with the most qualified former admissions officer on our team, regardless of location. We take several factors into consideration when recommending specific counselors, including intended academic area(s) of interest, potential schools of interest, counseling style/personality and availability.

Can we change our counselor?
More Info

AcceptU has an excellent track record of matching clients and counselors. But, we do not always get it right! Because of our robust team of counselors, we can accommodate any request for a counselor change. Before switching counselors, we work with the client to ascertain additional preferences to ensure the new counselor is the perfect match.

Do you have references available?
More Info

AcceptU’s past clients serve as a terrific reference! AcceptU is the #1 rated admissions consulting firm, with more 5-star verified reviews than any other provider. We recommend reading through our reviews to hear from our past clients. AcceptU also has a recorded panel discussion with past clients as well as past client video testimonials.

In what ways do your counselors collaborate?
More Info

AcceptU counselors are in constant communication behind the scenes. All counselors and staff are connected internally on Slack. Additionally, counselors attend professional development seminars and conferences as well as report in small teams to discuss the latest admissions best practices and trends. Counselors also often rely on each other for second opinions.

Counseling Logistics
How does counseling work?
More Info

All counseling is one-on-one and 100% virtual. We meet on any platform you prefer – phone, GoogleMeet, Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp or WeChat. Counselors are responsible for driving the process, letting you know what you need to work on and when. Counselors are also available “on-demand” and appointments can be booked directly on their calendars.

When are counselors available?
More Info

Counselors indicate their availability to clients at the onset of their working relationship. Typically, counselors will meet on weekdays or weeknights, depending on clients’ schedules. Counselors will also make themselves available over weekends when necessary. Counselors provide a scheduling calendar to their clients to facilitate setting up appointments.

What topics do you cover?
More Info

The short answer: anything and everything related to the planning and applying stages of the admissions process. Early on, we focus on profile building activities to enhance a client’s background. We then cover all topics associated with the application process – from the school list to the essays. A detailed scope of service can be found by clicking Programs above.

How frequently will we meet?
More Info

For clients one or more years out from the application process, meetings typically occur every 3 – 4 weeks, however, additional meetings will be required to cover special topics throughout the year. For clients who have moved to the application phase, meetings will be much more frequent – sometimes as often as several per week – to ensure timely application completion.

Do you have project management tools?
More Info

With so many moving parts in today’s admissions process, it is critical to stay organized. As such, we utilize tailored project management tools to: track client progress; maintain and update client records – such as transcripts and extracurricular activities; search for and determine universities to apply to; exchange messages; and track essays and essay editing.

How quickly do you edit essays?
More Info

Counselors edit essays within five days, although they make every effort to turn around edits and feedback in a shorter period of time. The essay writing process can take a fair amount of time! There is typically a brainstorming session or two, followed by a first draft with detailed comments. Thereafter, the editing process is iterative until the essay is polished and finalized.
