So, you have spent hours laboring over your MBA applications and finally have them submitted – what more can you do now to help your cause?
First off, if you have not already, now would be a great time to go visit the campuses of the programs that you have applied to. Visits will give you a better sense of which programs might be the best fit for you, and also give you a chance to sit in on a class or speak with admissions officers and students. It is smart for you to document your visit, as it shows your continued interest in the program.
You should also begin preparing for possible interviews with each program, should you be granted that next step in the admissions process. Much like a job interview, researching the school can give you a leg up in the interview and allow you to carry the conversation with your interviewer. Leading up to your interview, be sure to check for mentions of the school in the press, as this makes for a good conversation starter.
You can also use this time to check out any new rankings that have been released. If you are already pretty set on which MBA specialization you might want to pursue, be sure to review those rankings as they can differ from the overall rankings. Be cautious, however, as you should not commit to a school or dramatically change your opinions based on rankings alone.
Finally, make sure you have some fun with this time! Without applications, you should have some of your life back. This application process is meant to be fun, and an MBA is a wonderful goal to strive for that will undoubtedly advance your career. Enjoy the suspense, and relax until the decisions come through – you have earned it!
