Admission today is more complex and competitive than ever before. AcceptU counselors are all former graduate admissions officers – who have evaluated and made decisions on thousands of applications – putting them in the unique position of providing highly personalized, strategic guidance that will enable you to stand out and significantly improve your likelihood of admission.
Just ask our thousands of past clients. AcceptU is the #1 rated admissions consulting firm, with more 5-star verified reviews than any other provider. We pioneered virtual admissions counseling more than a decade ago and our team is composed entirely of former graduate admissions officers with experience at the most selective universities in the U.S.
Simply put, applicants who start early have the greatest chance of being admitted, as our counselors can provide strategic guidance that enables them to make informed decisions about the ways that they can best prepare themselves for the process. Doing so ensures that our clients are able to stand out and put their best foot forward in their applications.
We measure success in two ways. We ask all of our clients to rank their school lists and then track the outcome. We have found that, consistently, about 90% of our clients are admitted to at least one of their top three choices – and, on average, our clients are four times more likely to be admitted to highly selective schools with our support versus applying on their own.
Because of the highly competitive nature of admissions – as well as the ethical guidelines outlined by the national associations governing undergraduate and graduate admissions counseling – we cannot guarantee admission to any college or university. However, 90% of our clients are consistently admitted to at least one of their top three choices.
AcceptU specializes exclusively in admissions counseling and does not offer standardized test preparation and/or academic tutoring. We do, however, engage with trusted tutoring partners and are always happy to make introductions for our clients, when appropriate. Like AcceptU, our tutoring partners provide standardized testing and academic support virtually.
All AcceptU counselors have extensive prior admissions experience – reading, evaluating and making decisions on applicants at top 40 colleges, universities and graduate programs. Nearly all counselors have been referred to AcceptU by current counselors and we methodically evaluate, interview and vet all candidates. We hire fewer than 1% of applicants.
Counselors undergo extensive one-on-one training in addition to attending regular professional development workshops. Additionally, most counselors hold membership(s) in national admissions counseling organizations and frequently visit college and university campuses to remain closely connected to the latest trends and best practices in admissions.
The virtual nature of AcceptU’s support enables us to connect you with the most qualified former admissions officer on our team, regardless of location. We take several factors into consideration when recommending specific counselors, including intended academic area(s) of interest, potential schools of interest, counseling style/personality and availability.
AcceptU has an excellent track record of matching clients and counselors. Although we rarely get requests for a counselor change, we can certainly accommodate and switch a client to a same tier counselor. Before switching counselors, we work with the client to ascertain additional preferences to ensure the new counselor is the perfect match.
AcceptU’s past clients serve as a terrific reference! AcceptU is the #1 rated admissions consulting firm, with more 5-star verified reviews than any other provider. We recommend reading through our reviews to hear from our past clients. AcceptU also has past client video testimonials available here.
AcceptU counselors are in constant communication behind the scenes and all counselors and staff are connected internally. Additionally, counselors attend professional development seminars and conferences as well as report in small teams to discuss the latest admissions best practices and trends. Counselors also often rely on each other for second opinions.
All counseling is one-on-one and we can meet on whatever platform you prefer – by phone, Google Meet, WeChat, Zoom, FaceTime, or WhatsApp. Counselors are responsible for driving the process, letting you know what you need to work on and when. Counselors are also available “on-demand” and appointments can be booked directly on their calendars.
Counselors indicate their availability to clients at the onset of their working relationship. Typically, counselors will meet on weekdays or weeknights, depending on clients’ schedules. Counselors will also make themselves available over weekends when necessary. Counselors provide a scheduling calendar to their clients to facilitate setting up appointments.
The short answer: anything and everything related to the planning and applying stages of the admissions process. Early on, we focus on profile building activities to enhance a client’s background. We then cover all topics associated with the application process – from the school list to the essays. A detailed scope of service can be found by clicking Programs above.
For clients one or more years out from the application process, meetings typically occur every 3 – 4 weeks, however, additional meetings will be required to cover special topics throughout the year. For clients who have moved to the application phase, meetings will be much more frequent – sometimes as often as several per week – to ensure timely application completion.
With so many moving parts in today’s admissions process, it is critical to stay organized. As such, we utilize tailored project management tools to: track client progress; maintain and update client records – such as transcripts and extracurricular activities; search for and determine universities to apply to; exchange messages; and track essays and essay editing.
Counselors edit essays within five days, although they make every effort to turn around edits and feedback in a shorter period of time. The essay writing process can take a fair amount of time! There is typically a brainstorming session or two, followed by a first draft with detailed comments. Thereafter, the editing process is iterative until the essay is polished and finalized.

Certainly. Your AcceptU counselor will be a trusted resource to both you and your parents. Some parents attend every meeting, others attend a few and ask to be copied on follow up emails and/or receive meeting summaries, others truly take a full step back from the process. Regardless of preference, parents can always set up separate meetings with their counselor.
Your counselor is here to comprehensively support you through the graduate admissions process and it is your counselor’s responsibility to let you know what you need to work on – and when. That said, your counselor is also always available “on-demand” and appointments can be booked directly on their calendars.
While most of our clients are targeting graduate programs in the U.S., our counselors are also very experienced in advising our clients on popular graduate programs outside of the U.S., including in the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe and Asia. If you are considering applying to graduate programs outside of the U.S., please contact us to discuss further.
AcceptU counselors are categorized into two tiers (VIP and Standard) based on several factors, including their admissions experience (which universities/graduate admissions offices they have previously worked at – and for how long), as well as their graduate counseling experience at AcceptU, including their past results as well as client ratings/reviews.
Please schedule an introductory call with an AcceptU advisor for graduate admissions counseling here. During your call, we will learn more about your needs as well as educational goals and discuss how AcceptU can support you in the process. You may also contact us by phone, email, WeChat or by our contact form to schedule your introductory call.
After your introductory call, an AcceptU advisor will follow up with additional information on a recommended counseling program and counselor. We will be happy to subsequently answer any additional questions you may have. When you are ready to get started, your AcceptU advisor can set up a brief follow up call to walk you through the next steps for enrollment.
To secure a spot with your counselor and get enrolled in an AcceptU program, we collect a deposit by phone. We accept all major credit/debit cards. The balance of your payment can be made by credit/debit cards, ACH/eCheck or bank/wire transfer. Please contact us with any additional questions on available payment methods.
It can be logistically challenging to arrange for introductory calls with prospective clients as doing so would negatively impact our counselors’ ability to service their current clients. With that said, if you are interested in speaking with a recommended counselor, please discuss the possibility with your AcceptU advisor and we will do our best to accommodate.
Once you have made your deposit payment, your AcceptU advisor will assist you with the onboarding process, which includes having you complete a new client questionnaire and sending us any academic records. Once all onboarding steps have been completed, you should expect to hear from your counselor within one business day to schedule your first meeting.
